This blog is about Cameron and Maren's 200 mile hiking journey along the John Muir Trail from Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park to Mount Whitney in Lone Pine, California. We will spend almost one month hiking the trail during July of 2012. The blog will talk about our preparations, the journey and reflections on the trip.

Dehydrating
We decided to put together all of our own food instead of buying the backpackers food from REI. There has been lots of dehydrating of fruits and vegetables -- mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, peppers, apricots, peas, corn, kiwis, basil, oregano, celery and cilantro. We have also dehydrated beef jerky which is our favorite. Unfortunately, Maren's brother Nielsen has been busy eating up the beef jerky. We are going to make some really yummy dinners out of all these dehydrated ingredients!
